Devourment
Rochester, NY
The Bug Jar

Last road trip as a bachelor! Getting married this Friday, so I got out of town while I could! First time seeing Devourment and honestly, I haven't been this jazzed for a concert in a couple years. Made the 5 hour trip in decent time. After a pit stop for some beer and a stop at Dinosaur's BBQ, I ventured to the Bug Jar. It's a tiny ass bar in downtown Rochester. Capacity of 129. The actual room where the stage... [Read More]

Wow. So I saw this and I had to share. Helmet has been doing a few random Betty 20th anniversary shows at this might be the best Helmet set ever (god I hope this set is accurate). I know they were doing Betty and then another set too. This is flawless IMO.

Last night Megadeth played at Casinorama in Ontario. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, so it's about a 90 minute journey for me each way. I actually didn't know it was this far at the time of buying tickets, but it was definitely worth it.

The show was scheduled to start at 9, but there was an opener who went on at 9 called Mandroid Echostar. They were pretty terrible. It was your standard djent progressive melodic metalcore pop punk awfulness. They were using at least 7... [Read More]

It was a pleasant surprise for me when Morbid Angel was announced as the headliner for the Summer Slaughter tour this year. After the 2013 lineup I didn’t expect the tour to ever make a return to extreme metal, but then we were given the heaviest lineup to date.

There was already a decent crowd in the venue by 4 pm when I walked in. Fallujah had just started the first song of their twenty minute set and immediately I noticed how horrible the kick drums sounded. The triggers... [Read More]

Kickass show. Great bands and cool people to be sure. Got to have fun exchanges with Manic Mike and Manic Jimmy, the Grindsister and Grindrique and Tonelord Matt, which made coming out to the show solo totally worth it.

Got to the Five Star Bar in time to catch Gravehill. When I first saw them at Tidal Wave 2012, I didn't dig them at all. Maybe my taste in music has just changed over the years, but I fricken loved them this time. So many killer riffs all in a classic death metal... [Read More]
