» Judas Priest -- Evansville, IN -- October 22nd, 2014

Saw Priest in Evansville Wednesday night. Was really bummed when the first show and setlist came out, and considered trying to sell my tix. but this show sold very poorly, (guessing maybe 2500 in a 11,000 seat arena), i realized that selling my tix was out of the question. so i made the 4 hour trip up there. The day before i decided to listen to some Steel Panther on spotify. so on to the show.

» Arch Enemy -- Baltimore, MD -- October 23rd, 2014

First show of the tour tonight at the Baltimore SoundStage and the new vocalist for Arch Enemy, Alissa White-Glutz, was much better live than on the recordings I thought. Great energy and charisma overall, though I didn't like when she had the audience pogo in place like it was a pop punk show. I didn't get there in time to see Starkill or Huntress, but I had a photo pass so I shot the below photos of the set lists of the last 2 bands while I was up front. Arch Enemy played 2 encores and I... [Read More]

» Mastodon -- Kansas City, MO -- October 22nd, 2014

In my not so humble opinion, I believe Mastodon is one of the best bands (in any genre) making music today. Starting as a sludge metal group, the Atlanta-based quartet has incorporated elements progressive metal, groove metal, thrash, death, rock and just about every other extreme genre under the sun as of late. With the release of "Once More 'Round The Sun" in June, Mastodon continues the musical shift started in 2011's "The Hunter" by incorporating more melody and groove... [Read More]

» Pearl Jam -- Milwaukee, WI -- October 20th, 2014

I finally got to see my first ever Pearl Jam concert on Monday in Milwaukee and boy was it an epic one to start with! I was up in the nosebleeds but had a very good, almost centered view. I bought the exclusive show poster & sticker, and a tour shirt. The show started a good while later than the ticket time listed which was 7:30, but there was no opening band so that was understandable, on to the setlist and review...

Solid show. Our pal Andrew Metalhead was manning merch for Night Demon and did a kickass job of it too.

This was my first time seeing Night Demon and they did not disappoint. Totally killer and energetic classic metal. The set included covers of Road Racin' by Riot, Lightning to the Nations by Diamond Head and originals from their EP and their forthcoming album. They were just plain on-point and dead-tight as a live unit. Definitely a band to watch in the next couple of years.

» King Diamond -- Toronto, Ontario -- October 18th, 2014

Last time I was at the Sound Academy, I made a vow to myself to only return if the band playing was worth the hassle. King fucking Diamond is worth it.

Jess and the Ancient Ones played a decent set, though I found they dragged on a bit after about 20 minutes. Decent Psychedelic Rock, not great, but I've seen much worse.

I can't think of a single complaint about King Diamond. The band was on, and King sounded absolutely incredible. He hit the notes without much (if... [Read More]
