I'm not talking about Realms of Chaos, later Bolt Thrower is super melodic, and so is Dismember. Melodic + death metal to me equals melo-death, after wikipediaing melodeath all the bands are shitty and what I was under the impression was metalcore or some other lame genre, so I guess I am wrong.

I don't see how country of origin or tempo have any reflection on the level of melody in death metal. Especially country of origin. There are some fantastic old school death metal bands from Sweden and some absolutely terrible new ones who don't sound anything like the old.

I'm not saying that Swedish death metal can't have melody, but it wouldn't be called melodic death if it has that Sunlight sound.

I guess I did. They are very melodic in parts, right? And was a kick-ass band (newer stuff is just so-so)
