Cannibal Corpse -- Madison, WI -- November 21st, 2012

This venue was pretty small compared to where I'm used to seeing Cannibal Corpse. I figured the show would be packed and sold out, but I'm pretty sure that that didn't end up being the case. I got in there a couple songs into the first band, which was a local band called Vermillion. They were some really good mid-paced death metal, most likely drawing influence from old Cannibal Corpse, Immolation and Autopsy.

After a short wait, Hour of Penance took the stage. They completely destroyed! So much better than when I saw them in March, even if the set list was basically the same. What I've noticed about the metal crowd in Madison last time I was there for The Black Dahlia Murder is that they are not real big on moshing. That trend continued tonight and there was really only one pit for Hour of Penance during Ascension. They were probably my favorite band of the night.

Sedition Through Scorn
Paradogma
The Vile Conception
Slavery in Deaf Decay
Ascension
Decimate the Ancestry of the Only God
Misconception

Another short wait later and Misery Index took the stage. I was really looking forward to them since I hadn't seen them since 2010 and only got about a fifteen minute set because of all the technical problems they had while setting up. They did not disappoint! This is when the fights started though. There was this dude in a Warbeast shirt standing at the edge of the pit that would just deck anyone that ran into him. He only did it once for Misery Index because there was only one pit, but he must have punched like three or four people throughout the night. Their set list was the same as the other thread for this tour, except they actually played Heirs to Thievery.

Sleeping Giants
Carrion Call
Great Depression
Ruling Class Cancelled
The Seventh Cavalry
Spectator
You Lose
The Illuminaught
Heirs to Thievery [did not play]
Traitors

The wait for Cannibal Corpse seemed to take awhile, but they eventually came on. This was my fifth time seeing Cannibal Corpse and probably the least rowdy I've seen it. There were pretty constant pits, but only about four people for most of the time. There were also a bunch of altercations such as the Warbeast guy mentioned above. Also, some dude and a chick were just screaming at each other for about five songs because one got punched in the face by the other. There was also this dude in a Mayhem shirt that kept falling down in the pit and not being able to get up. He reminded me of the guy in this video. He got escorted out of the pit a couple times and ended up having a chick slap the shit out of him because he grabbed her chest in his drunken stupor. Anyway Cannibal Corpse tore shit up as usual. Corpsegrinder was always making his little quips and being the frontman that we all know and love. Great show. The set list was the same as the other one posted.

Demented Aggression
Sarcophagic Frenzy
Scourge of Iron
Disfigured
Evisceration Plague
The Time to Kill is Now
I Cum Blood
Encased in Concrete
Covered with Sores
Born in a Casket
Pit of Zombies
The Wretched Spawn
I Will Kill You
Fucked with a Knife
As Deep as the Knife will Go
Priests of Sodom
Unleashing the Bloodthristy
Make Them Suffer
Hammer Smashed Face
Stripped, Raped, and Strangled

Cool review, man. LOL, whevener I watch that video I laugh my ass off. Yeah, we've all seen those drunk idiots at shows. I've been plenty hammered at shows, but I can't stand when assholes try to start shit w/ people. And it's always big dudes picking on smaller guys, or if they decide to hit a big guy like me, they take off.

Why do all those crazy death metal tours skip Canada? First, this one and then, the Dying Fetus one.
