There are other bands I could have added but I tried to include bands from different sub-genres of metal.

Peterson and Skolnick for me. Of all the bands mentioned, sans Metallica, Testament has had the biggest influence on me personally.

Its really difficult for me. I like them all. I regret not adding Hinds/Keihler from Mastodon but I knew I was forgetting someone when making this list out. I really debated between Maiden, Priest, Slayer and Down but went with Down cause I know they won't get as many votes and I have seen them live more times than any other band on the list.

"Best" and "favorite" are two totally different things. "Favorite" is easy for me to pick: Ihshan and Samoth because they're my favorites off this list. But "best" I have no idea yet. I really have to think about it.

When it comes down to best I think of number of great songs, albums, influence, etc. That immediately nominates the Big 4 along with Priest and Maiden.

As one of my favorite bands I was upset when I realized I inadvertently left them off the list. They are a great duo and every release has been outstanding imo. If I could, I would go back and replace Kreator with Mastodon.

Sammy Yil-Sirno didn't join Kreator until long after their influential period.

The better answer for Morbid Angel is Azagthoth and Brunelle.

There's too many guitar duos in Cannibal for there to be a definitive one. If anything I guess it would be Rusay and Owen.
