Paul Quinn and Doug Scarratt, Dave Linsk and Derek Tailer, Jon Schaffer and Jon Schaffer.

Of the available pairs I voted Skolnick and Petersen.

Plenty of good choices on here, some bands I love but couldn't vote for them as the best duo. I got it down to Hanneman & King and Kisser & Cavalera, and went with the Sepultura guys. I just feel like some of the stuff they did early on was incredible, and some of my favorite thrash material.

Jon Schaffer is not even close to the 3 best choices for "best one guitarist that has never been able to keep a partner but is so good he's like two guitarists."

I actually think Bobby Gustafson could fall under that description (even though Merrit Grant and Rob Cannavino are better).

Gotta go with the obvious Smith & Murray.

"Best" as in favorite, they win. "Best" in terms of influence and songwriting and general duo-ness, they win. "Best" in terms of ability and talent... well, they might make 3rd place of the choices available. By my rules, I'd call em the best.

Maiden is starting to run away with this considering the small #'s of this forum (or at least the average amount of voters in other polls).
