So was there any truth to the "Phil Anselmo got studs and spikes banned from the fest grounds" rumor?

That's what everyone was saying, but a few of my friends met him and said that he was just as confused as everyone else about it. It was apparently up to his security and not him personally from what I heard.

The fest will not be at the former Sonar compound next year. Here is an interview with Evan (one of the organizers of MDF) where he addresses all of the issues that arose over the weekend and why they will be moving to a new location.

I won't mind where it's held as long as it's still in decent proximity to the hotel/harbor area.

Interesting interview.

It goes to show how great this fest is that people found a ton of shit wrong with it this year, but for me it was one of the greatest weekends ever. Yeah it was my first year, but all of the issues were just minor inconveniences. Then again, I only missed 2 bands I cared about due to lines and security wasn't too hard on me. Although the guy at the Sonar gate on Sunday didn't realize my wrist band was legit and thought I was trying to trick him to sneak in. He was yelling at me asking if I thought he was unintelligent I'm used to security people being kind of assholes and having huge egos, so I just didn't let it bother me.

All of this. The whole MDF experience is one of the best ever; it's definitely worth all the small bothers that you get.
